Giving a contoured and slimmed appearance to your face, neck and décolletage can be achieved at home using cosmetics most of which you probably already own. It does require practice though to not appear “stagey” so spend some time practicing before a night on the town. The method below primarily concerns working with foundation, two shades of blush can be used on the cheek area to obtain the same results.
To begin, assemble three different colors of foundation. One should be your natural shade, one a shade darker and one a shade lighter. Study your face remembering that shadows will make your face appear slimmer, and that light will make areas stand out. Apply a light coat of the medium tone to your entire face.
Apply the darker tone under your cheekbones, along the sides of your nose and under your chin, blending well. Apply the lighter color above the dark on the cheekbones and anyplace you would like to have stand out, perhaps under the brow bone, inside the area between your eyes and nose. These are just suggestions, everyone has different areas that they want to have shadow and stand out.
If applying to the décolletage area, use the lighter color or powder and shade between the breasts and above the breasts. If going out, often a shimmery powder is used above the breasts to draw attention to the area. Just be sure to use a light hand and make certain it will not rub off on clothing.
Apply eyeliner above and below the eye beginning at the lash line but leaving out the inner corner which closes up the eyes. Lightly brush a medium tone over the eye, lighter under the brow, and darkest along the lash line, out and back in to form an inverted “V” at the outer portion of the eye, blend well.
Apply lipstick and liner if desired, then apply gloss to the center of the lips to create a pout effect.
